Another one of my turns.
I can't get my thoughts together – I'm still a little hungover, and I'm usually scattered anyhow so this is hardly news. So have a bullet list of responses instead.
- CNN has a page up that displays certain ballot measures from each state. I am pleased beyond measure that the abortion ban in South Dakota didn't pass. I am pissed that Prop. 8 passed in California. I'm hopeful that the last 5% of the precincts are all nos, but I'm not delusional.
(For the record, the remaining counties are Imperial, Kings, Monterey, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Tulare.)
I think part of it was due to not stressing enough the resemblance between banning gay marriage and banning interracial marriage, for example. I am hopeful that this will be rescinded in the future, even though it means more back-and-forthing for same-sex couples in California.
- I read here and there that we should not cheer too much, that this is just a chance for change and not the change itself, and so forth. I have two things to say to that. First, Obama himself said that. We are not flamingly stupid, thank you. Second, could you give us a day to feel relieved and gleeful and things? Thanks.
I realise the crushing irony of me, a cynic, saying "Stop being such a buzzkill", but it's there. It's more that I get irritable when people assume that someone not explicitly stating $x means they have not even considered $x. (Plus I tend to rankle at admonishing tones.) In this case, apparently being full of teary relief means people think Obama is the messiah who will change everything and will never disappoint us ever. Pah.
- This is the first time I have ever been this excited about an election. And this is the first time I've ever felt motivated to help – like there is hope for change.

Naturally, I want to know the results. I do not trust any one site, so I list them all so I can watch them all.
Aiee.
There are likely a zillion-point-two more. I know this.
After you've voted, fill out this poll about how your voting experience was; pass it on.
